For 3,000 years libraries have been committed to the idea of sharing – sustainability is, so to speak, part of their DNA.
Beyond that, every library today actively decides for itself how it wants to shape its role as a driver of a sustainable society:

Libraries change the world!
- Some libraries talk about their own use of resources and show how to improve your environmental footprint.
- Many libraries provide a broad, up-to-date collection on sustainable living and show that we can all do something.
- More and more libraries set store by designing their services inclusively, so as not only to offer high-quality education but also to reduce social inequality.
- All libraries are committed to the principle of granting their users the right of free access to information.
On behalf of the Swiss library association Bibliosuisse, the Biblio2030 commission runs the campaign «Biblio2030 – Bibliotheken verändern die Welt».
The campaign sets out to make libraries visible as drivers of a sustainable society, to connect them with the responsible offices in the federal administration and with partners in civil society, and so to further sustainable development as a whole and for everyone.
A film trailer has now been made for the Biblio2030 commission showing what libraries are doing and what they can do. In a few minutes it opens out the variety of fields in which libraries are already working in the service of sustainability.
