Bücherei Eyachtal is among the busiest institutions of the pastoral care unit, drawing people of every age. It enjoys very high standing among local people – a small but thoroughly modern, up-to-date library.
Expertise with tradition
Libraries matter greatly to the church's educational mission and are at the same time places of encounter. Digitisation, changing media and the planned parish reforms are among the great challenges facing volunteer library staff today.

We set great store by steadily improving what we offer and our events. Without our supporters, sponsors and the Friends of the Library that would not be possible. Together we contribute unconditionally to making equality of opportunity real for every individual.
I am convinced that living libraries are important building blocks of living parishes, and that to some degree they can be a model for the parish of tomorrow: open, welcoming and taking people seriously with the particular life story they bring, without laying claim to them or pressing them. Without a library the parish has a harder time fulfilling its mission; without a library the parish lacks one of its most promising places.

One of a library's most important tasks is reading promotion. Despite the sometimes considerable effort, in the end it is always our readers who benefit — young and old — and it is for them that we give our time at the library week after week.
Children and young people today have different interests and different possibilities in their free time than they did 20 years ago. What is called Generation Y grew up with the PC, the internet, the PlayStation, the X-Box and the mobile phone. So we must not set ourselves against this development and have to offer matching digital services as well. For the generations that follow — Generation Z and Generation Alpha — all of this already goes without saying.
